As a Tucson native, I always loved being in the outdoors. And then I fell in love with rock climbing, which led to an even deeper, might I say, magical connection to nature. I love the challenge for growth that climbing offers, both mentally and physically. Also very important to me is my Heeler Jasper; she loves to chase all the sticks at the base of the cliffs.
But more about massage…
I graduated from ASIS massage school in Tucson in March of 2024. Natural healing and health has always been a guideline for me, and I simply love being able to provide that for people through massage. I also love massage because of its many dimensions and opportunities to learn.
I am certified in cupping therapy, which is one of my favorite techniques to use. I am also certified in Barefoot Massage, also known as Ashiatsu. I love this modality, because it can provide deep pressure in a very relaxing way.
I adjust my style of massage based on my clients needs, which is unique to every session. It may include Swedish, connective tissue/ cupping, or deep tissue. My general approach for treatment is to view the body as a whole, and think about how certain areas can affect others. My biomechanical approach comes from my athletic background- I want to help the body function optimally and find and sort out the blockages that cause pain and prevent smooth movement. But I also have a curiosity to the other facets of massage, which deal with how our bodies store emotions, and how the mind plays in a role in how we may be feeling, the habits we create, and our overall health.
Getting deeper….
I believe that physical touch can be helpful to connect the body-mind-and spirit. When we bring awareness of what’s going on in our bodies, we create a bigger sense of presence. A favorite quote of mine, said by Bessel van der Kolk, author of ‘The Body Keeps the Score’, is: “feel what you feel, and think what you think.” A simple phrase, with immense meaning. When we are able to achieve this, we are able to heal and express ourselves to our fullest- physically, mentally, and spiritually. That to me, is life’s goal.
